This joint dilatation rubber serves as a component that will accommodate the movements generated by shrinkage of concrete and creep, shortening of posttensioning, thermal variations, dead and live loads, wind and seismic loads and settlement structures. Shrinkage of concrete, shortening of post-tensioning and thermal variation are generally taken into account explicitly in design calculations.
The expansion joint shall be designed to accommodate any shrinkage that occurs after installation. The strip seal joint is a strip seal expansion joint or so-called single gap expansion joint, which consists of two steel edge profiles with loop anchors and replaceable sealing profiles.
