Specification of Modular Joints Dilatas
This expansion joint is a combination of several strip seals to overcome larger movements. Usually modular joints are used for movements greater than 100 mm. This closed expansion joint is suitable for bridges with long spans where the possible movement can be up to 2 m.
On some bridges, this joint is also used to accommodate movements between 150 mm and 600 mm. Modular joints have three main parts, namely the separator beam, sealer, and support bar which are assembled as one closed expansion joint.
By knowing the characteristics of each type of expansion joint, you can understand its function and use. This is especially important if you are involved in bridge construction. Knowing the types of expansion joints and their uses allows you to determine the right type of connection according to your bridge needs.
