These components are made of natural rubber and synthetic rubber. This rubber pad is specially designed as the main support for the girder with concrete supporting the bottom in the construction of bridge construction which functions to withstand pressure or load on the bridge.
In its installation, this component is able to distribute the load from the top of the bridge that is being traversed by the load to the bridge pier so that there is no direct friction or collision between the bridge super structure and the bridge sub structure. These rubber bearings serve as bridge supports, between the girders and abutments reducing shear and vibration caused by bridge loads and other movements.
The steps for installing rubber or elastomeric bearings are as follows:
1. Selection of Elastomeric Bearing Pads
Rubber or elastomer bearings shall be in good condition and tested and conform to specifications, and the dimensions or dimensions of the elastomeric shall conform to the plans.
2. Equipment Preparation
The equipment that must be prepared is measuring devices, hydraulic jacks, hoses, pipelines, generators and other necessary equipment.
3. Measure/level the support base
4. Place the hydraulic jack in the predetermined position and carry out the lifting.
5. Install temporary support
6. Rubber or elastomer pads are placed under the support plate and glued together with glue, the top of the bridge is lowered so that the elastomer adheres perfectly to the plate.
7. Lift up enough for the elastomer to hang over the plate and remove the supports.
8. Place mortar under the elastomer and lower it down until the elastomer sinks into the mortar without setting.
9. Clean and clean the rest of the mortar.
10. When the mortar has reached the desired strength, the hydraulic jack and support can be removed.
